Mindfulness in Seated Meditation

Seated meditation, often known as zazen or mindfulness practice, does not aim to block out thinking. Its core is non-judgmental awareness of the present moment.
When we settle into a stable posture and turn attention to the sensation of breathing, we learn to separate ourselves from our passing thoughts and emotions.
It is normal for the mind to wander. The skill lies not in stopping wandering, but in gently recognizing distraction and returning again and again.
Over time, this training builds mental resilience. People who practise regularly report that they respond more calmly to unexpected troubles instead of reacting quickly.
