School Track‑and‑Field Sports Day Last Friday, our school held a big track‑and‑field sports day on the playground. All classes took part in different events, and the whole playground was full of cheers and laughter. Some students ran short‑distance races. Others joined the long‑distance run, jumping events and throwing games. Though I was not very good at sports, I still signed up for the 800‑meter race. I felt nervous before I stepped onto the track. During the race, my legs became tired quickly. When I wanted to slow down, my classmates shouted my name and cheered for me. Their encouragement gave me new energy. I did not win a prize, but I finished the whole run. After all the games, our teacher told us that sports day was not only about winning prizes. The most important thing was taking part and trying your best. That day taught me the true spirit of sports.
