Climbing a Mountain on the Weekend [A1]

Last weekend, I went mountain climbing with my family. We got up very early in the morning, because we wanted to see the sunrise on the top of the mountain. We packed a big backpack with water, bread, apples and warm jackets. The road at the foot of the mountain was wide and smooth. Many other walkers were there too. Some of them brought their dogs. As we walked up, the road became steeper. I stopped many times to rest and drink water. My father told me not to hurry. He said slow steps help us go farther. Green trees grew on both sides of the path. I heard birds singing loudly. The air was fresh and cool. After two hours of walking, we reached the top. The sun came out slowly. We could see small villages and rivers far below. We sat on big stones and ate our breakfast. I felt tired but very happy. Mountain climbing teaches me that I should keep trying when things feel hard.
