A Wonderful Hike Up the Hill [A2]

I planned a mountain hike last Saturday with my best friend Tom. Before we set off, we checked the weather carefully. We wore comfortable sports shoes and light coats. We put snacks, enough water and a first-aid kit into our packs. The trail started in a quiet forest. Sunlight fell through the leaves and made bright spots on the ground. At first, we talked and laughed as we walked. Soon the path turned upward and became rocky. We had to watch our steps to avoid slipping. Tom almost fell once, but he caught a small tree branch in time. We took short breaks every twenty minutes. During our breaks, we looked at wild flowers and listened to the sound of a nearby stream. It took us nearly three hours to arrive at the summit. From the summit, the whole valley opened up in front of us. We took many photos to keep this wonderful memory. On the way down, we moved more slowly. We knew that going down can also be dangerous. This hiking trip showed me that preparation and patience are very important for outdoor activities.
